TINLING, Cyril James Brace

TINLING, Cyril James Brace

November 8th, 1943 to January 3rd, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Cyril Tinling announces his peaceful passing at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd, at the age of 74.

Cyril is pre-deceased by his father George Sr., his mother Marie, and sisters Judy and Lucille (Jim).

Cyril will be lovingly remembered by his former spouse Jean, his sons Christopher (Colleen) and Mark (Marie-Andree) his daughters Susanne and Kerry (Matthew), his brother George (Patricia), his grandchildren Jessica, Katie, Benjamin, Olivia, Madeleine and Adam, and his dear friend Arlene.

Cyril was born in Selkirk, M.B. and then moved with his family to Kelowna, B.C. in 1956 where he helped cook at the Tinling's Family Restaurant, as well as started up his own furniture shop in the now, Mission Park Mall.

He was a jack of all trades who over the years also worked in the construction trade building houses and cement finishing. Cyril later married and as his family grew, he went on to sell tobacco and confectionery throughout the valley.

Cyril's booming laughter, big smile and generous heart will never be forgotten. He had a love of cooking amazing meals, a passion for socializing, and could always be counted on to help anyone in need.

Cyril also had a quieter side, where he enjoyed the love of nature, fishing, camping, painting and horseback riding, which he passed on to all of his children.

He will be greatly missed in this world as he touched the lives of so many people throughout the Okanagan Valley and beyond.

A celebration of life will be held at The Cattleman's Club Restaurant at O'Keefe Ranch in Vernon, B.C. on Saturday March 31st, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Dear Jean and Tinling family, I'm sorry to hear about Cyril passing. I always enjoyed his wonderful humour and his great smile every time we ran into each other over the years. I was blessed to have the pleasure of working with him at Bert Henry years ago and also did some excavating work for him at their place in East Kelowna. I have wonderful memories of him. Thinking of you all at this time my thoughts and prayers are with you. He will be greatly missed by so many that knew him.

    Dear Kerry and family,

Your father was the most wonderful man! Every Christmas Eve for a while, he would come around and dress up as Santa for our 3 girls. And his wonderful jams.....! He will be definitely missed. All our love Mike, Bronwen, Morgan, Adwen and McKenna, as well Mikes British Repairs.

I am so sorry to hear of dear Cryril's passing. I was a friend of his since I was eleven and he was fifteen; I would help him get water from my grandparent's house for his horse Echo and in turn I always hoped to ride Echo. He loved animals so much and was as kind to them as he was to people. If anyone needed anything he was the first one there to help. I would like his children to know how lovely their father was and how many people will always remember him. He made the world a better place.

    An old friend, Gail Schuck

George and Pat- so sorry to read of Cyril's passing. Remembering you all from days past and simpler times in Kelowna- too many gone too soon and way too young! May your memories of good times help at this time.

I knew Cyril for only a short time. He touched the heart of anyone he came in contact with. I will forever remember the convention and him being my dancing partner. God Bless. Condolences to his family, Arlene and all those whose lives he touched.
