TINHOLM, Charles  Einar

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Charles (Charlie) Einar Tinholm on November 1st, 2013 at the age of 98 years.
Born on October 16, 1915 he was the only son of Carl and Elena Tinholm of Holden, AB. He lost his father at a young age and was forced to quit school to look after his mother and younger sister. He worked as a farm hand in various communities in the Edmonton area. He was conscripted into the Army during the war. While overseas in England he worked as a boiler maker/electrician, as well as motorcycle messenger. At the end of the war he shipped back to New York on the Queen Mary. After returning to his family in Vancouver he went back to Alberta where he began driving highway rigs, highway buses, school buses, logging trucks. In 1954 he met and married a widow with four children. A year later he moved his family to Vancouver Island to operate a service station in Lake Cowichan. Later he went to work for BC Forest Products and MacMillion Bloedel. After yet another strike he moved his family back to Alberta. For many years he owned and operated an oil tank truck in the Hardisty, AB area. After retirement he and his wife moved north to Rycroft so they would be closer to their children. They made many trips in their motor home to visit family. He kept himself busy working on lawnmowers, chainsaws and motor bikes. With his mechanic knowledge he could fix just about anything. He also loved to fish, and play cribbage with his partner at the tournaments in his legion and Senior Centre in Alberta, he especially liked crib when his grandchildren were old enough to play against him. His lifelong dream was to be a pilot and he was able to study for his pilot
