TETZ, Larrie
TETZ, Larrie

TETZ, Larrie - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Larrie Tetz, husband of Eleanora (Cullen) Tetz on June 11, 2011 in Kelowna General Hospital following a relatively short battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) and Parkinson’s disease.

Larrie Andrew Tetz was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan on Dec. 20, 1934. With his first wife, he raised a family of three daughters in Edmonton, before moving to Cranbrook in 1978 where he worked at Geddes Ford and then Alpine Toyota until his retirement. It was in Cranbrook that he also met and married Eleanora Cullen, sharing twenty-five years of marriage with her. They had recently moved to Kelowna. Larrie will be remembered as a great mechanic and a handyman who took great pride in his high quality workmanship, building furniture and guitars. He will also be fondly remembered for his gentle manner, big heart, quick wit, musical talent, and practical jokes.

Larrie is survived by a brother Wesley, by his three children, Becky of Edmonton, Shelley of Denman Island, and Simone (Alessandro DiBello) of Venice, Italy; his step children Kathleen Cullen (Garth Walton) of Campbell River, Burke Cullen (Irene) of Aurora, Ont., Tom Cullen (Cindy) of Victoria, Maureen Anderson (Mike) of Delta, Jackie Kirkham (Terry) of Cranbrook, John Cullen (Orla), and Barry Cullen of Kelowna; three grandchildren David, Michael, and Elizabeth; 16 step grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held in Kelowna at the home of Barry Cullen on Saturday June 18 at 2:00pm at 291 Avonlea Way. Family and friends are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society.
