TAYLOR, Trudi - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude ‘Bama’ Muriel Taylor (nee Ogle). Trudi passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday May 2nd, 2011 at the age of 78.

She will always be loved and remembered by her companion, Norman Simpson;
her children: Gay (Ronald) Bigler, Sheri Page and Sonny Ross; her grandchildren: Crystal Maguire, Lindsay-rae, Brittney and Steven Page, Jordie and Kelsey Bigler; her great-grandson, Paeton Hughes-Bigler; and her great-granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Diana (Dwayne) Warnock, her brother Lawrence Ogle and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband, Thomas Taylor, and her parents, Dick Ogle and Hazel Elder (G-G).

Trudi was born on January 8th, 1933 in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan. She enrolled in the Canadian military where she met her first husband, Murray Ross, and the father of her three children. Following military service, her family settled in BC where she took on a hairdressing career and other endeavors for many years. She then met her second husband, Tom ‘Papa’ Taylor, and his job took them to many different small towns in Alberta and BC. They enjoyed the nomadic, country lifestyle with their beloved dogs, Tasha and Tiffy. Years after Tom’s death, she met Norm at a square
dancing party and her final romance blossomed. In her last years, they took many road trips in their travel trailer and by tour bus to destinations across North America. Several trips to her beloved Saskatchewan were among them where she was able to explore the homeland of her Lakota-Sioux ancestors. She proudly embraced her heritage and encouraged her children to do the same. As her health deteriorated, she
was unable to be as adventurous and Norm took on the role of caregiver.
Trudy’s family will be forever grateful for his love and support up until her last breath. Bama’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Her memory will forever live on through them.

“You can take the girl out of the prairies but you can’t take the prairies out of the girl.”

A memorial will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th, 2011.
