SUTHERLAND, James "Jim" Campbell
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, grandfather and brother, James "Jim" Campbell Sutherland in Vernon BC on April 11th, 2011 at 91 years of age. We are, however, rejoicing that our father Jim, will be reunited with our mother, Lou who was the love of his life for 70 years.
Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Carol (Allan) Schulte of Enderby BC; his son Bob (Faye) Sutherland of Nelson BC; his grandchildren Brad (Shanna), Greg (Mitsi), Wanda (Monty), Jim (Janet), Chris (Melanie) and Doug (Alicia); and his eleven great-grandchildren. Jim will also be missed by his sister Mae Dangel and his two sisters-in-law Judy Eyre and Marvel Siebert.
Jim was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on October 5, 1919 to Joseph and Frances Sutherland. In 1920, the family moved to a homestead near Phippen, Saskatchewan where they farmed. Jim met and married Louise Myre in 1940, and they began their life together working as a married couple in Alberta. Jim joined the army in 1942 and went overseas, on the Queen Elizabeth where he spent time in England and saw action in France, Germany and Holland. After returning from overseas Jim and Louise purchased a farm in Grindrod, British Columbia where they raised their family. They moved to Enderby in 1991. In their retirement, Jim and Louise enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. Jim enjoyed all sports as a fan, as well as a participant in his younger years. He especially enjoyed the many years playing pool with his buddies at the Enderby Seniors Complex. Jim also loved reading which brought him hours of pleasure in his later years.
A Celebration of Life for both Jim and Lou will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011 at the Seniors Complex (1101 George Street, Enderby BC).
