STEVENSON, Norma Elizabeth

STEVENSON, Norma Elizabeth

June 2, 1924 - June 9, 2018

Mom passed away June 9, 2018 at the age of 94. Survived by her son Greg (Jan); son-in-law Jan Oltmanns; granddaughters Shauna Stevenson, Lisa (Thomas) Skelton, Tiffany Oltmanns (Danny); grandson Jason(Sarah)Oltmanns, as well as four great grandchildren.

Sadly predeceased by her husband of 62 years George, daughter Marlo, and infant Grandson Aaron (Oltmanns).

Born in Watrous SK June 2, 1924, Mom met Dad after his service in the RCAF in WW2, moved and headed west to strike out a new life.

In 1951 Lakeview Heights was opened up by the VLA and they acquired a 12 acre parcel where they were one of the first pioneers living in tents while they built their home where mom resided for 63 years. Mom was actively involved with the original Womens Institute, Lakeview Heights Bridge Club and spent many happy years doing what she loved, golfing!

The last four years of her life were spent at Cottonwoods Ethel Glen unit where she kept her dignity and sense of humour during some difficult times. She shall be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Sincere thanks for the support and compassion provided by the staff of Cottonwoods.

There will be no service by request.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with family and close friends.

    Dear Greg, Jan and family,

We were so sorry to hear of your mother's passing...although we only met her a few times we surely noticed her love for family and her witty sense of humour!

I remember while chatting with her, all of us being so surprised that my Aunt Mae actually taught her in Saskatoon; thankfully she said my aunt was one of the few nuns she liked!

She leaves a wonderful legacy of a life well lived.

    Take care,

    Peggy and Monte Skelton

We are sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was always a pleasure to chat with when she would visit the office to pay her bill. She told us many stories of her life in Lakeview heights. We maintained her lawn for many years and remember how proud she was of her home and garden.
