SPROULE, Charlotte Jane
February 15, 1928 - January 1, 2012

After a long and fulfilling life in Oyama, Charlotte Jane Sproule passed away at the age of 83, surrounded by family. Charlotte was predeceased by her loving husband Garnet in 2008. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, niece Joan, brother Ewan and nieces and nephews in Scotland.

Charlotte was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated directly to Oyama after the war, where she met and married Garney. Together they built their home and orchard and raised their family.

For many years she worked at the packing house and was very involved in the Oyama PTA, Brownies, Guides and the Woman's Auxiliary to the Legion.

Second only to her love of her family, Charlotte loved to travel. She frequently travelled to Scotland and enjoyed spending Winters in Mexico. In addition, her and Garney travelled to Cypress, France, Israel, Jamaica and Egypt.

Her family invites you to share in a celebration of life on Saturday, January 7th from 2 - 4 pm at Aspen Grove Golf Course.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the local food bank or Kidney Foundation are welcomed.

  • Were deeply sorry about the loss of our friend and family member Charlotte. It was just 17 years ago when our paths crossed and we have had the privilege of shared beautiful moments, always with the friendly attitude, bringing joy and retrieving time and making us feel like she wanted to share her crops with us like the fruits she cared for. We remember the dedicated writing on her preservatives. When we went to a French restaurant we noticed her enjoying the sounds of piano and violins of our culture. We know she loved Mexico and she was greatly appreciated. You are greatly missed and Mexico will always remember your smile.

    Deeply,

Families Grajeda and Sproule Jan 5, 2012
  • I know Charlotte from Sun Pointe Village. I'm the housekeeper who was blessed to visit with her once a week and many times during the week. She was a lovely lady, inside and out with a smile that glowed. I will miss her and my prayers and thoughts are with all of you. I am blessed to have gotten to know her.
