SMITH, John Robert George

SMITH, John Robert George

John grew up in Enderby and Armstrong. He always considered himself a Canadian no matter where his travels took him. He will be greatly missed by Susan, his wife of forty years, his son, Matthew (Elicia) and his grandson, Ezra. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Joan Smith of Armstrong.

He Had many passions, the first of which was photography. He enjoyed his work as a radio announcer and excelled at public speaking. On his thirty-fifth birthday he did his first skydive and found his greatest love as well as the best friends of his life.

His greatest fear was to be boring. He never had to worry. He has been called many things through his life but never boring.

At his request there will be no funeral. A gathering for stories and scotch will be held at a later date. His biting wit and great laughter will always be missed.

Blue skies John.

Susan and Matthew, my heart aches for your loss. Ezra will grow to hear legendary stories of his Grandfather. John has been my friend for the better part of 20 years, his thoughtful wit and skydiving wisdom I will miss deeply and remember fondly as well as his joy for life and love for his family and friends. John's face would light up when proudly sharing Matthew's accomplishments. The Canadian skydiving community benefited greatly from his experiences and knowledge that he was always willing to impart on those that would listen. Friends across the continent and the planet are missing him already. I do.
