CELEBRATION OF LIFE

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, 1297 Glenmore Road, Kelowna.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander John Sivucha on Dec. 27, 2016. Born in Vancouver in 1939, Alex was 77. Predeceased by his mother Mary, his father William and brother Bill, Alex is survived by his wife of 53 years Verna (nee Arason), their 2 sons Jeff and Dale (Erin) and grandchildren Aidan, Harper, Owen, and Dalton.

Alex came to Kelowna from Vancouver in 1970 and immersed himself into the community as a member of the local Kinsmen chapter, the Kelowna Golf and Country Club and the Kelowna Curling Club. He was an active member of these establishments until 2015. Alex began his career with Crown Zellerbach (currently Tolko Industries) in 1971 as Shipper/Receiver. He went on to work there for 42 years. It was through these professional and personal affiliations that he met so many wonderful friends that were there for him right up to his passing.

Alex had numerous passions, one was being a mentor for his children. He was a soccer coach for 7 memorable seasons and spent countless hours in hockey arenas and the sidelines of football fields, to which his sons are forever grateful. At the end of an exhausting day you could always find Alex sitting in his backyard by his pool with a great paperback novel.

He taught us about loyalty, integrity but most important was to enjoy life with people you truly cared about.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
