SELLERS, Anne
SELLERS, Anne

SELLERS, Anne (Gaylie)

A Life well lived,
A Life well loved.

With sadness and heartache we announce the sudden passing of Anne, 69, of Kelowna, B.C., April 22, 2011.

Anne was born to Josef Gaylie and Sofia Twardowski in Kinloch, Sask., Aug. 4th, 1941.

Anne was 9 when she and 3 of her siblings came from the Saskatchewan homestead to Mount Lehman, B.C. where her 2 older brothers had built a family home from the ground up in one day. Anne was a shadow to her sister Caroline and they were inseparable until Caroline's death in 2005. Anne is playing Bridge with Caroline somewhere now.

Anne was a beautiful, vibrant and outgoing woman with a famous smile that would light up any room and capture the hearts of all that met her. One of those special hearts was that of Dave Sellers. Dave swept her off her feet and they married on Aug. 3, 1963 in Vancouver, B.C.

Dave and Anne moved their family to Kelowna in 1972.

Anne worked part time outside the home in retail sales and administration work but predominantly her passions involved her children Steve and Darci and then later on Grandson Jonathan and Grand-daughter Reese.

She loved to be outdoors gardening and walking and to laugh, play, read and share earth's surprises with children.

Anne was diagnosed with a rare cancer about 16 months ago but it was a rare secondary disease which really brought her down physically. Emotionally, nothing brought Anne down. In these last few months she marveled how happy she was to be under the family's constant care and attention. She was especially impressed with how Dad embraced caring for her around the clock and always made sure she had her "Sunny Spot" on the balcony, fresh coffee and a nice glass of wine ready. To her delight they even began building gourmet meals together. It was just a couple of weeks ago that Anne went for lunch and a wine tasting in Peachland!

Anne will always be remembered for her sparkling smile, warm laugh and elegant dedication to holding her head high, looking good and accepting the future with interest, enthusiasm and an inquisitive outlook.

Anne is survived by her loving husband Dave Sellers; one daughter, Darci Sellers (Paul Sliskovic) of Kelowna, BC; one Son, Steve Sellers (Ilse Sellers) of Darwell, AB; two Grandchildren, Jonathan Gaba and Reese Sliskovic of Kelowna, BC; two brothers, Ted Gaylie (Dorothy Gaylie) of Port Coquitlam, BC; Ben Gaylie of Vancouver, BC; two Sisters, Jessie Babchuk of Winnipeg, MA and Stella Bezenar of Windsor, ON.
Sadly predeceased by: Sisters; Carole, Mary and Brothers; Steve, Ed, Jon, Alex and Michael.

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., May 21, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd., Kelowna, BC.
