SCHLOSSER, Ditgard (Dita)

SCHLOSSER, Ditgard (Dita)

Apr 12/32- Nov 8/17 (85yrs)

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Mom, who was fondly known as Dita, Gramma with the white hair, G and Tick-Tock- Oma.

She leaves behind 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

Mom, slipped away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Cancer.

She was born in Berlin and came to Canada in 1954. Regina, Sask. was home for over 30 years where she married Rudy and raised her 4 children Dieter, Ingrid, Alan and Irene. She worked as an LPN at the Regina General Hospital and became a very committed Sask. Roughrider fan.
Mom moved to Kelowna in 1980, where she met some wonderful new friends. Mom worked at KGH as an LPN. She shared her warm, cozy home with her much loved little pooches. She was an amazing cook, gardener and always loved to share her years of gardening wisdom and the veggies produced with family and friends.

Dita loved her family very much and for those who knew her, they would agree she was both compassionate as well as straight shooter. We know she is at peace now and with that we take comfort and will cherish all the wonderful memories we got to share with her.

Special thanks to all who were loyal friends, neighbors and health workers.

We are so very saddened to read that Dita passed away. Our sincere condolences on the loss of a very lovely lady. After we got home from our trip at the end of November, we tried to contact Dita as we were not aware of her passing. Dita was friends with my father Willi Oesterberg for many years until 2007 when he passed away. We continued our friendship with Dita through occasional visits ( we live in Cochrane, AB) & through Facebook. We appreciated the time Dita spent with Willi & the times she visited him & brought baking when he was in Sun Pointe care facility in Rutland.

    Sincerely, Angelika & Ralph Gardeski

Dita, my dear friend, I will miss you forever. Remember when we met so long ago in Regina, in 1968? We decided to go back to school to upgrade our education in search for better jobs. Remember the strange algebra equations, the geometry triangles, new vocabulary and proper sentence structures? Then there were the sunny days at the cottage at Echo Lake; etched forever in my mind.

You were the gracious hostess when my mom came to visit from Berlin, providing an opportunity for her to chat in German.

You were my anchor and my main reason for settling in Kelowna after retirement.

Remember us picking up Winston for his new home with you.

You were my friend for nearly 50 years, no one will ever be able to top that.

You are in my heart forever.

My condolences to the family. May they bring you comfort and may my prayers ease the pain of your loss.
