SAUL, Mark Elliott
November 7th, 1948 - October 5th, 2011

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we advise that Mark passed away on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jean; son Bryan (Val) and grand-daughters Rachelle and Kennedy; Sisters Lynn (Rob) and Debbie (Paul); his mother Terry; Cousin Judy LeBlanc; nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his father, Harry in 2009.

Mark was a member of Peachland Branch 69 of the Royal Canadian Legion where he enjoyed playing snooker and joking with his friends and patrons. Support from these friends over the past two months was without a doubt the best that anyone would expect. Thank you!

Mark will also be missed by many other friends and acquaintances.

Many thanks to the staff at BC Cancer Agency, Kelowna General Hospital and Central Okanagan Hospice Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held during the Show We Care event at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 Peachland on Saturday October 22nd, 2011 sometime after 6pm.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Southern Interior Region, 202-1835 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, B.C. V2Y 3H5 or to other charities of choice.

  • Dear Jean: Our sympathy and an overflowing of God's Love to surround you as you deal with all of this. I knew Mark for a long time through the MS group -- he would give me a ride to coffee at Zellers every 2 weeks. ALL of us at our coffee group have missed him over the summer. We would see each other and right away would banter back and forth. One time after he picked me up for coffee he got a speeding ticket on the way into Westbank -- and has blamed me ever since! I can even remember going to Bible Study with him and a bunch of "MSers" for a little while. We pray that he is resting in God's loving arms -- free of cancer - free of MS! And that you, Jean will be given the strength to deal with this.

With Love, Barb and Arend Oct 12, 2011
  • I went to school with Mark Saul and when my daughter was 17, she dated Mark's son Bryan so we got re-united and were friends for a few years at that time in our lives.

    My sympathies to the family.

  • Jean, Bill and I are so very sorry to have only recently heard about the loss of our big guy Mark. He was a source of inspiration, fight, humour, leadership and strength for the rest of us to look up to in so many ways.

We are heartbroken and sad and wish that we could have been there for you as you tried to help this wonderful man fight the battle of his life.

We cant' possibly know what you are going through, but both want you to know that we are here, and are working on getting the message out to more people so they will know about Mark's passing too, and hopefully many can come to this celebration that Mark has planned from the beginning.

This beautiful man has done so much for others, with his heart and soul.. both Bill and I are very proud to call him our FRIEND.

Bill and Virginia Carty Oct 17, 2011
