ROWLEY, Gladys Maria

We are sad to announce the passing of Gladys Maria Rowley on December 28,2016.

Gladys was born in Lake Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1926. She came to Canada with her family as a young child and grew up in Toronto, Ontario where she met her husband Lawrence and their two daughters Sandra and Linda were born. Gladys began a career with Bell Telephone that led her into switchboard and telecommunications throughout her life. Mom and Dad moved us to Winnipeg in 1967. When Dad passed away in 1983 Mom continued to dedicate herself to operate a switchboard until she retired at 65 and moved to Kelowna. She enjoyed 25 years in the Okanagan.

Mom turned 90 this past year celebrating at The Village at Mill Creek where she lived. She was joined by Sandra and Linda and their families. We would like to thank The Village at Mill Creek for their good care during her time there and to thank Dennis and Eric and Florence for her care during her last days.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents Peter and Maria Hamel, sisters Doris (Fred), Viola (Robert), Helen (George), Margaret and her brother Wilburt (Jean). Her grandson Liam Kavanagh passed away in 2011.

We called her GG when mom was blessed with two great grand daughters Maeve and Bonnie Keegan. Gladys is also survived by her brothers, Norman and Jim.
