RAWSTHORNE, Philip

RAWSTHORNE, Philip

Phil Rawsthorne was born in Vernon on January 12, 1925. He spent his youth at what is now known as Klub Kal. He tried joining the air force at age 16 and was refused and told to go back to school and try again next year, which he did. He came back home and tried his hand at railroading and from there did a number of career changes, finally settling on driving trucks. He was very active in the Oyama Community Club as well as the Oyama Legion Branch 189, serving as President for both a number of times. He is survived by his eight children, Gary (Willy), Mike (Heather), Frances Joss (Wayne), Cheryl Dakin, Kirby (Shari), Kerrie Brazil (Don), Scott (Donna) and Tim (Cindy) as well as sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 2009 and son-in-law Bill in 1999. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 189. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Oyama Community Hall. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family

Rawsthorne family .. So sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I got to know your dad when we both worked for CHAPMAN TRANSPORT him in Vernon and me in Kelowna. We would cross paths quite often at work. He was always happy and full of laughter. R.I.P. P.S. one of the best drivers Chapmans had. Wally Buhman.
