POLISCHUK, Jean(Nee Olain)
November 26, 1912 – May 25 2011 - Well, Grandma’s wish came true! While she didn’t win Lotto 6/49, she was called to heaven to be reunited with her family, whom she held so dear. She’ll be missed by her three grandkids – Debbie, Don & Donna, and grandcats & dogs – but as she neared her 99th birthday, we all will celebrate a life well lived. Living a simple life, Grandma was an amazing cook, canner & gardener, and was always on the go!
Born and raised in Saskatchewan to immigrant Ukrainian parents, Grandma & Grandpa lived in Peterson and Saskatoon before “retiring” to Kelowna in 1969. Jean and Paul filled some of their time in the orchards picking grapes and a claim to fame was having their smiling faces adorn the once familiar Orchard Park liquor store wall mural for all to see.
We’d like to thank all of you, who were so good to Grandma, especially dear friends Judy Halcro, Helga & Bert Wolters, her friends at The Dorchester and particularly Dr Williams & the staff at the David Lloyd-Jones Home who provided exceptional care and compassion to Jean.
A private family ceremony will be held May 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation “in support of David Lloyd-Jones Home”, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2 would be most appreciated. Or, you can remember Grandma by treating yourself to a coffee and donut at Tim Hortons or dinner at Swiss Chalet, two of her most favourite outings!
Arrangements entrusted to Valleyview Funeral Home, Honoured Provider of Dignity Memorial. Condolences may be sent to www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com
