PERKIN, Margaret Irene Jessie

PERKIN, Margaret Irene Jessie

Major Margaret Irene Jessie Perkin nee; Allen
1943 - 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the Promotion to Glory of Margaret Perkin of West Kelowna, BC. Wife, mother grandmother, great-grandmother, sister Auntie and friend. Born July 30, 1943 in Epsom, Epsom & Ewell VD, England to Lorne and Elsie Allen and passed away February 9, 2018 at Central Okanagan Community Hospice House after a brief battle with brain cancer.

After marrying George in 1962, Margaret stayed at home raising her girls with a listening ear and kind, wise advice.

Margaret was a Guide leader in Rossland with her dear friend Pat Williams. They shared many moments of laughter and fun while connecting with and positively impacting the lives of many young girl guides.

She and her husband, George, shared much love, adventure, laughter, and ministry during their 55 + years of marriage. She and her husband served as Salvation Army officers for 22 years, in St. Vital, Manitoba; Listowell, Ontario, Vernon, BC, New Westminister, BC, and Belkin House, Vancouver, BC. where her kind and generous ways left an indelible imprint.

She loved her retirement, and spent many hours at gardening, camping and just hanging out reading, whether in a campground or on the couch at home. She spent many hours making her own Christmas and birthdays cards which she was very proud of. Every Thursday morning she would go for coffee with a close group of her girlfriends.

She enjoyed having her grandchildren and her great grand children visit. Her grandchildren, Courtenay and Colton still reminisce about the amazing summer grandma & grandpa drove them across Canada to visit the London, Ontario family and how much fun they had on their many camping adventures.
Margaret touched many lives with her love, compassion, patience and her willingness to help. She had a quiet sense of humour and always had a smile on her face. She ministered to others with words of encouragement and a hug. Marg will be remembered as a warm and caring person, who was deeply committed to her calling from God and dedication to her family. She possessed a quiet strength and beauty of character which was inspirational and encouraging. Her sterling spiritual strength will continue to provide inspiration and blessing.

She will be sadly missed by her husband George, daughters Robin (Steve) and Colleen (Mike), grandchildren Courtenay (Jason) and Colton, great-grandchildren, Cali & Nova, and step great-grandchildren, Ryelee & Parker, sister, brothers and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 on Saturday March 10, 2018 at The Salvation Army - 1480 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC
