PEACH, Mildred Jeanette

Mildred Jeanette Peach (Berntson) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2012 in Westbank, BC. Mildred, born August 11, 1926, was the youngest child of Norwegian immigrants Bernhardt and Anna Marie Berntson of Glen Ewen, SK. She is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, Ivar, Art, Norman, Marie, Violet, Ralph, Bernice, and Ruth.
Mildred is also predeceased by her beloved husband Keith in Feb of 2010. Mildred is survived by: her son Wayne and his wife, Rosina; her daughter Marlene (Buettner) and her husband Walter; 5 grandchildren Keith (Leah), Shelley, Kari Ann (Chris), Janene (Norman), Michelle (Greg); 10 great grandchildren Courtney, Karin, Taylor, Brianna, Charlie, Abbie, Noah, Ella Beth, Kendall, and Andrew. Mildred is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
After completing her schooling, Mildred went on to be a Graduate Nurse of the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, Class of 1948. She worked as an RN in Indian Head, Winnipeg and again in Indian Head where she met and married her husband Keith Peach. They had 2 children, Wayne and Marlene, whom they raised on their family farm south of Sintaluta.
Along with the many tasks of being a farm wife, Mildred also worked for many years at Lakeside Care Home in Wolseley. After retiring from farming, Mildred and Keith moved to Indian Head.
Mildred was active in the Indian Head United Church, UCW and the Red Fox Circle. She enjoyed being involved and helpful in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, canning and kept a spotless house. Mildred had a love of music and was often seen playing piano at Durham School Christmas Concerts, or playing piano at home with her family and friends gathered around singing.
Mildred and Keith enjoyed camping with their friends and going on bus trips throughout the US, visiting with siblings and their families, or just being with friends playing cards on a Saturday night.
In 2008, Mildred and Keith moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia to be closer to their family. After Keith's passing in 2010, Mildred moved to Westbank BC near her grandaughters, Shelley and Kari Ann. They and their families were devoted to the needs of their Grandmother while she was a resident of the nursing home there.
Right up to the end, if you asked Mildred how she was doing, she always said "Not bad for an old girl." She always had a kind word, and never complained.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

A Funeral Service and will be held at Indian Head United Church, Indian Head, SK, on Friday May4th at 1:00pm with interment to follow at the Indian Head Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hansons
