PEACE, Donald John

PEACE, Donald John

On August 22nd, 2013 a very, very nice man went home after a short, but very painful battle with cancer. Don Peace was just shy of his 78th birthday.

Don was born in Calgary August 27th, 1935. He is survived by his loving wife Verna just short of 55 years. Don was predeceased by his parents Basil and Mabel Peace, of Beaverlodge, AB. Don has a surviving brother Brian (Melba), 4 children Dwayne (Jacqueline), Bob (Wendy), Diane (Ted) and Dan (Helen) and 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and one uncle.

Don was involved in Highway trucking all his life. He started at the age of five when he made himself a little wooden truck that went up and down the dirt roads that he had carved out in his backyard. Don trucked for some of the largest trucking firms in Canada and travelled West to East, the Alaska Highway and into the U.S. The last main trucking company that he worked for was Berry & Smith out of Penticton. Don retired from the trucking business in 2004 after open heart surgery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kelowna SPCA.

As neighbours across the street from Don and Verna, we will remember Don and his little dog (who was great friends with our big lab) walking or on his scooter every day. Colin enjoyed their daily hello and my children grew up here seeing Don and his dog. He will be sadly missed.
