Noren, Clarence Albert
Born Oct 19, 1928 in Grande Prairie, AB, Clarence was raised on a farm in the Peace River area. He worked for the Alberta Government Department of Highways for 33 years. In 1958 he and wife June moved to Edmonton. Throughout the 1970’s Clarence was known in the local music community as “The Highway Man”. His band “The Prime Minstrels” played most weekends at the bars and legions throughout the city. Clarence realized a lifelong dream in 1976 when he released an Album of his own original recordings. At age 55 he retired from his job and hobby farmed in the Innisfree area. At age 75 Clarence & June moved to Kelowna, BC to be near their children and grandchildren. Clarence continued to enjoy and play music for family and the residents where he lived until his health failed. He died peacefully on the morning of June 23rd. He is predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Gerhardt, and his brother, Delmar. He is survived by his devoted wife June, his sisters Margaret Johnson & Viola Roth, and his sons Clarence Jr. (Joanne), Craig (Debbie), John (Lana), and Carl (Gloria), and his five grandchildren. His gift for entertaining and his unique humour will be missed by all who knew him. We will pay tribute to Clarence at the Valleyview Funeral Home (165 Valleyview Rd.
