NISSEN, Larry Raymond

NISSEN, Larry Raymond

It is with broken hearts that our family announces the passing of Larry Raymond Nissen of Kelowna, BC. Larry Passed at 8:50 AM on the morning of July 8th, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his three children, Sarah Malesky, Noel Nissen and Rebekah Nissen, and his 9 grandchildren.

Larry was born, the first of 7 siblings, on October 2, 1945 in the town of Bonnyville, AB to Elmer and Anne Nissen.

He was known for his incredible sense of humor and distinctive laugh that filled a room and brought smiles to everyone around him.

Larry's mission in life was to preach the Gospel of Christ to anyone who would hear; with a special focus on the northern communities in Alberta. A voracious reader and collector of Christian books, Larry would spend hours talking about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and sharing his knowledge with his friends and family. Many people's lives were touched by his spirited passion.

He also loved the outdoors, spending much of his time teaching survival techniques and passing on his understanding of nature.

To Larry, family was everything. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

All who knew him will miss him.

A memorial service for Larry will be held at Kelowna Gospel Fellowship in Kelowna on July 28, 2017 at 4PM.

Larry was my uncle, it was very sad to hear of his short battle with cancer, our family was deeply shocked and saddened by his sudden death but he is happy now in heaven, he is in his element by god's side free from pain and worry of this life that we struggle to live but he never really seemed to be bothered by struggle or doubt, always faced every challenge with a laugh that could be heard and appreciated by so many and he had so many stories that could take you places you never imagined existed, he was such a man with a very colorful personality, someone who I wished I could of got to know more, we will always remember and love you for ever until we meet again.

I remember meeting Larry when I was a child. He was a friend of our family's. Larry always loved sharing about Jesus. I have not seen him since we all used to go to the Four Square church downtown a few years back.

We are very sad for the pain in your hearts, but what a comfort to know, that he is with Jesus.

Praying that you will be comforted at this time.

Sharon Pranil and my father, Bill

We are very sad for your loss but would not wish Larry back here for anything. I can see him with a beautiful look on his face as he sees his reward. Our prayers are with you all. God bless.

Very sad to here about Larry. I lived near by and I would visit their place nearly every day. I was fascinated seeing Larry's large stamp collection back in the 60s and growing up with his brother, my good friend Bryan.

All the best to the family,

    Chris Rieger
