NELSON, Joan - Passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 13, 2011 at the age of 79 years.

Survived by her loving husband John (Smiley) Nelson; two daughters: Lynn Baker of Kelowna, Karen (Marc) Tremblay of Iqaluit, Nunavut; two sons: Don (Anne) Nelson of Powell River, BC, Wayne (Liz) Nelson of Kelowna; eight special grandchildren: Joel (Stephanie), Sheldon and Brittany Tremblay; Angelique, Owen and Michelle Baker; Lauren, Blake Mander Nelson; and one sister Dianne (Tony) Roberts of Kelowna. Sadly predeceased by her parents John and Marj Grant and her brother Bob Grant.

Joan’s family would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Hignell for his kind care over many years, and to the staff of 3 West and 4B at KGH and homecare nursing who provided such compassionate care.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s United Church, 3131 Lakeshore Road, with Reverend Baldeo officiating.
