Ken & Pat introduced me to Big White in 1993 when I joined their family with mine, Joyce French`s family during Christmas. I loved Big White and their company, friendship and laughs along with real estate assistance for many years since. I am so sorry and sad at the loss of Mitch, but will treasure the times both at Big White and Vancouver for our visits, advice and friendship.

Dear Pat & family, so sorry to hear of Ken's passing.... was shocked. Always thought of him as larger than life. My parents purchased the home you designed on Collett. I know they thought so highly of Ken & yourself. They are both gone now and are joining Ken, celebrating together once more. God bless & keep you with all your great memories. The heart never forgets...

    Thinking of you.

I don't know how to begin expressing my shock, chagrin and sense of loss at the news of Ken's death, and I'm finding myself, as I often do nowadays, saddened and frustrated by the impossibility of putting really important feelings into inadequate words. Ken was one of the first three members I met when we moved to Kelowna and joined the golf club at Gallagher's Canyon in July of 1996. I've never forgotten how welcome he made me feel that first day, and the goodwill he showed me then has never abated. I'll miss him.

    Pat and Family,

I was very sad to hear about Ken's passing and please accept my condolences. I've enjoyed Ken's company over the many years at Gallagher's Canyon. I always knew I needed a "comeback joke" when I saw him approaching in the parking lot, because I knew he had one coming. We will miss Kenny's energy and good nature around the Club. Prayers are with you.

Dear Viv and Gord, it was with great sadness that we learned of Ken's passing. Although we have only known Ken and Pat since your wedding, we always felt we had a great bonding every time we met at all the family occasions. We shared the same table with Ken and Pat at mama's 90th BD celebration and had a great time. We will miss his presence in future family functions, but he will never be forgotten. May he Rest In Peace!

Please accept my hearfelt condolences on your loss. Although I have not known Ken for too long a time, I remember him as the tall, silver haired, gentle man with a ready smile at our gatherings watching the younger people busying themselves and the children playing; I remember how proudly he told me about little Ellis giving him driving directions to the day care; I see the sparkle in his eyes in the video of him picking up his grand-daughter skiing down the slope ; I remember the outstretched arm welcoming Gabe running towards "my grandpa" in church on his baptismal day.

Pat, Gordon, Vivian and family, I hope that memories of Ken at special moments like these will bring you comfort and peace.

    Dear Pat,

I send my sincere condolences for you and your family. It has been a while since I have seen both you and Ken - but like all the beautiful words and memories I too have many fond memories of Ken either looking a real estate at Big White or running into you both around town. Ken always had a smile and a kind hello when ever we met.

Pat , Gordie and extended family,

Pat, I met Ken 40 years ago and as with my first meeting and my last meeting with you guys nothing ever changed. He always had a smile a joke to follow. One of my fondest memories was when the Four Seasons /Courtplex when the Squash Players took on the Racquet Ball players from each club. Ken, a racquetball player showed up in a pink tutu for match. All of us squash players laughed for months after that performance. By the way Ken won his match handily. We lost a Legend December 22 and I'm so happy to have met Ken. I really will miss him.

Our sincere condolences to Pat and Family.

We were shocked to hear of Ken's passing and can't imaging the extreme sense of loss you are feeling at this time. The sheer number of condolences is attestation to the greatness of regard that everyone held for Ken.

We've known Ken since his early days in real estate and can still remember all the good times spent together. Marney and I were reflecting back to Ken and Pats wedding and said what good choices we thought they both had made.

The loss of Ken will also be felt within the community and the real estate industry.

    To Pat and Family,

So sorry to hear about Ken's passing. Only recently I saw Ken and his smiling face on the mountain and we had time to chat and laugh. Ken will be remembered and missed by many friends on the ski hill as well as on the golf course. Remembering our times in speedo outfits on the race courses at Silver Star and Big White, still brings smiles to my face. Yes, in the "good ole days", we thought we were fast! Lol!

Wishing you all much strength and peace through these difficult times.

Pat and Gordie, where to start-- shared marriage ceremonies & honeymoons, Big White, Ken trying to teach me racquet-ball, me trying to teach him how to sail- I'm sure glad he didn't talk me into bull-riding! A wonderful, funny, and generous guy - we share your grief, it hurts to lose him.

Pat and Gord - that is a beautifully written memoir on ..."Your Lover, Your Fighter and Your Wild Bull Rider". I remember well, playing racquetball with Mitch at the Four Seasons and receiving many stingers but not winning many games. Pat, you said Mitch would tell you at times you were probably his only friend. Oh, how surprised he is today looking down and reading all this admiration for his many achievements by all his many friends.

With Love, John & Laurie Mackay~

It is with sadness in our hearts that we have heard of Ken's passing. His compassion and integrity made it a pleasure to work alongside of him for the past 50 years. Our family has fond memories and always enjoyed the opportunity of spending time with Gordie and the boys on the junior race team at Big White. Ken was one of the best and will be sorely missed.

To Pat, Gord, Vivian and family,

Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know it is difficult to put into words when I think of how much we all will miss this man. He lived life with pride, not only in himself but in his family. You could not have had a more loving husband, father, father in law, and grandfathers. He lived to make you all proud. He was a kind, generous, and very loyal man. The Mitchell's at Big White was a place to welcome kids away from home, people from different countries, real estate clients, and of course friends and their families. He did his best to make everyone around him happy and welcome and he did that in spades. Our friendship goes back over forty years and although he is gone he will not be forgotten. Who could forget the happy hours at the Loose Moose and Rachel's. The festive seasons over so many years. The Vance family will remember him with pride and a smile.

    Dear Pat, Gord, and family:

We were shocked and saddened at the speed of Ken's passing. Life will be very different without our office neighbour popping in with his daily joke and hearing his feel-good greeting for Michelle as she walked by and said hello. I will especially miss the couple of hours I spent with my office-tour buddy every Tuesday morning for most of the last 20 years. It was a wonderful time getting updated on Gord, Vivian, the grandkids and the adventures in his and Pat's busy lives. His love for you all shone brightly in every word he spoke and his primary concerns in our most recent conversations were for you, not himself.

Professionally, as probably the longest licensed realtor in our board, he remained at the top of his game after 50 years. We will miss him personally and professionally.

    RIP my friend.

Pat, Gord and family, truly sorry for your loss. A huge shock even though we knew how ill Ken was. Feel very fortunate to have had a final cribbage game with him and some of his friends four weeks ago. Have known Ken for over 45 years and have shared many life adventures with him. Golf, baseball, skiing and was my mentor when he introduced me to real estate. Always fair and honest, Ken was a great role model. Loved to talk and brag about his son, daughter-in-law law and grandkids. Always looked forward to seeing Ken as his opening line usually was, have you heard about...... Always had a joke to pass on. He will be missed by many. Our hearts go out to you all. Ray Trudeau and Valerie Charison

Pat and Gordie, we are so very sorry you have lost a friend, a husband, a father, a grandfather way too soon. Treasure the memories, there were lots of them! Pat and family, all of us at Big White Ski Resort were so sad to hear the news of Ken's passing. I personally enjoyed seeing his face every Saturday in the paper.

All of us that have been here for a period of time have fond memories of Ken and the great assistance he gave the resort in our growth periods. Ken was generous with his time, his wit, his jokes and if we got him out on the mountain, he would ski your legs off to get a deal done!

My first weekend back at Big White in September, 1995 Ken took me by the hand and showed us all how to market the sale of land in Snow Pines Estates. He and his team (Pat) were individually was responsible for starting the boom for the next decade after that one weekend in the motor home parked on the side of the road writing what he claimed were, "reasonable offers". I have to agree, his insight and feel for the market was the best there ever was. Ken will go down in history as one of the best of the best, and probably one of the fastest, too! After all, his name is on the Kelowna Cup trophy. We all enjoyed being in the presence of Ken Mitchell.

    Dear Pat and Gordie;

My memories of Ken will always be with me. Yes, many jokes, yes a punctual business man that pre-booked his hair appointments every 4th Wednesday at 8:30am. Yes a proud husband and father, grandfather and friend to many. An amazing Realtor; that could be trusted, and one that you could have total confidence in his ability exercise the power of silence. I had complete faith in him. He proved himself over and over again. He supported his profession with pride; he held people accountable. He loved his family. He loved life, friends, golf, beer, rum, fine dining, Big White. When we cried together in October, the most powerful words he shared; I want my grandchildren to remember me. They will Ken; all of us will remember you. My heart is broken, knowing you left us too soon.

To Pat and family. So sorry that Ken has left us. He was such a great friend. Always up beat, lots of jokes almost every day and a great story teller. Always so positive! I enjoyed our visits at his Big White office after a day of skiing. Ken was always held in high esteem by his fellow realtors and the Remax staff for the kind and helpful gentleman that he was. Our sincere condolences to the family. Gerald and Jerry Geen

    Pat:

So sorry to hear of your loss. Ken was my neighbor in the office for a number of years and always had a joke, a computer question....yuk, a story of his weekend at the hill or of his fabulous grandkids. I will miss his jokes, his wisdom, and mostly his friendship.

We have lost a truly genuine, kind person and fun loving friend. Throughout our working relationship, a day didn't go by without Ken coming by my desk to tell his latest joke. (Good or not so good) I figured he stayed awake at night thinking these up. Another show of kindness was when you started playing gin rummy with us girls, he was right there to practice with you so you were comfortable beating us. Lol. Richard and I have totally enjoyed our dinners and drinks together which we will continue to have with you Pat. Sending lots of love.
