Obituaries

Gary, in his 68th year, passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC after a short and vicious fight with cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Nancy of Haliburton, Ontario; daughter Mrs. Karen Greer and her husband Alex Greer of Kelowna; and his son David of Haliburton. Gary was the proud grandfather of Ellery and Fox Greer. Younger brother to Tom Meathrel and his wife Margaret of London, Ontario; and Dr. William (Bill) Meathrel and his wife Shirley of Troy, Ohio. Predeceased by his parents William (Bill) and Eileen Meathrel of Toronto. Gary had a long and distinguished career with the Bank of Montreal and was an avid and skilled craftsman. Cremation has occurred with his remains to be placed in his beloved Haliburton and Kelowna areas. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nursing staff at the Cobourg hospital in Ontario for their support and caring offered to Gary during his courageous battle with cancer. We are thankful for the compassionate caring given to his wife Nancy by the Cobourg Hospital as well. A Celebration of Gary
