MCNELLY, Barry Jerome

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, Barry McNelly passed away in Kelowna, B.C. at the age of 58.

Barry was born October 3, 1952, in Prince George, B.C. Barry is survived by many loved ones around the world including his wife Babsie and twin sister Beverly Westergard.

Barry lived his life to the fullest which includes making South Africa his home for several years. A childhood dream come true. Barry's exploring personality took him all around the Southern part of Africa. Wildlife parks, World Heritage Sites, breathtaking coast lines and world renowned resorts captured his interest. Not only did Barry show a real compassion to people with disabilities, he had a great sense of humour. Even when he was raving about something he was funny. Barry was an exceptionally passionate saw miller. Over his career he faced many challenges throughout British Columbia, South Africa and Northern Ontario. He rolled up his sleeves and took on these challenges with a committed sense of urgency and a clear focus on achieving maximum results. He was held in the highest regard by his employees, his peers and his superiors. He was a man of integrity who was respectful to all. Barry was as close as it comes to be "born with sawdust in his veins". Barry's last post as General Manager of the sawmill and cogeneration plant for TEMBEC in Chapleau Northern Ontario was yet again a challenging time, however, Barry brought experience of a lifetime in sawmills, incredible enthusiasm and a 24/7 pace. His parting remarks were "take care of my sawmill, I wish I had more time". Barry will be greatly missed by his colleagues in the forest industry.

No funeral as requested by Barry. Barry's ashes will be scattered in Canada and in South Africa.

"When the heart weeps for what it has lost, the soul laughs for what it has found".
