To the McGowan family: I knew both Marion and Barry through Sears. Barry was always my go-to-guy, whether it be furniture or appliances. Always the consummate professional, and trustworthy to a fault. Most importantly he was a good person and always made you feel that you were more than just another customer. He was the reason you went to Sears.

He told me that his main reason for retirement was to be able to spend time with his grandchildren - no better reason than that!

    My deepest sympathies.

    Jan Cooper

Even though a long stretch has passed since we could spend time together, my best happy memories of younger years so often involve Barry and his family. Fishing, camping, hiking, back road adventures all come to mind. These were only some of the shared experiences so greatly enhanced by Barry’s kindness, generosity and sense of humor. He was one of the good guys that made this world a better place from his time here.

Barry, my old friend, rest peacefully. We will miss you, but always remember you with respect, admiration and love.

I am shocked and saddened to lose a good friend, and Marlene and I offer our condolences to the family. Rest In Peace my friend, you left this earth way too soon.

To the family of Barry McGowan....we are so sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. What a wonderful person he was......I worked with Barry at Sears, first in the retail store, then in the furniture store. It was always a pleasure to Have him around. After retiring from the store the one thing I really missed was Barry’s neck massages, he gave the best one when I needed it the most. Seemed like it was a second job for him at the store and we all loved him fo it. He will be missed by many.
