I could always count on him to help out with difficult situations and resolve them in a caring and respectful manner. He was a great man who has left a big hole in our City Hall family. I offer my deepest condolences to his partner Martina and her daughters, to his three sons and all his family and friends. Heaven's a better place now that Rob is there. Jan Johnston

I am greatly saddened to learn of Rob's early departure from this life. I was fortunate to work with Rob from when he first came to the City of Kelowna. He was always a friendly, kind and collaborative co-worker. He was always positive and ready to help solve various problems and gave solid advice. Rob was a truly "people-oriented" manager and showed compassion and deep understanding, relating to people. I know that Rob is greatly loved by all his family, and I hope they take comfort in knowing that Rob is now experiencing great Peace, Joy and Love in the presence of his Eternal Maker ! May God give strength to Rob's family. Joe Staniszewski

Lynn and I send our heartfelt condolences to Rob's sons and family members, Martina and all who have had the pleasure of working with him over the past 27 years at the City of Kelowna. Rob was respected for his commitment, compassion and desire to set a better path for those who would come behind him, whether that was through his work or volunteer efforts. We had some great times working together as part of a hard working team, particularly through our years in Financial Services. The citizens of Kelowna have been well served having had Rob Mayne serve them with honesty and dignity. He will be missed.

I've enjoyed knowing Rob for many years, first as the best soccer coach I've ever had, and later when our paths crossed again at the City. I am grateful for his support in helping me achieve my career goals. I certainly would not be where I am now without him. I will remember him as extremely generous, supportive, and kind.

Robin was my cousin two years my younger. His father and my mother were brother and sister. I didn't know the "business Rob" I knew the young smiling happy guy that would come to my family home on Vancouver island. Robin would arrive with his golf clubs and balls and saunter out onto the beach in front of our house and proceed to gleefully smash balls as far as he could hit them! My Mom, Rob's Auntie Edith, chirped on numerous occasions how truly proud she was of his important job at City Hall in Kelowna. The last visit I had with Rob was when he drove his Dad all the way from Kelowna to Parksville on Vancouver island for my Mom's funeral. We hugged and chatted and he whispered in my ear that he was so sorry and I was lucky to have had the Mom I had. I told him through tears how afraid I was to get up and speak - he gave me a lopsided grin and said " you'll do fine" then broke into a smile and said "well MAYBE you'll do fine". We both giggled and that's the last time I was to see him. My condolences to Robin's Mom and Dad, his brother Stevie, his big sister Linda, his three handsome sons and anyone else who was calmed by his kindness and humor. He will be missed but certainly not forgotten.

I first met Rob as a young auditor for the City in 1991. Rob was a new guy in the finance department under the supervision of Tun Wong. For 3 years we would come back and torture Rob with the same audit questions. Rob was always more than accommodating and friendly. After I moved on, and Rob progressed in his City career we crossed paths numerous times. I was consulting to the City, and he often had to comment on my thoughts. He was always more than respectful. Recently, Rob and I talked about our shared health issues. Rob was a thoughtful, humble, and caring man. His loss to the Corporate body of the City cannot be overstated (auditor accounting term!). Rob made a strong mark on our community and he will be missed. My sincere condolences to Rob's family and close friends. He touched me as a man I called a friend. We have lost a good man too early.

    My sincerest condolences,

    Todd Sanderson.

To Rob's family and loved ones, I send my deepest condolences. At one time, Rob was the director of the department that I was working in. I happened to be working on a Saturday and he cane in. We chatted for a long while. We compared our experiences and found he was 3 months older than myself. During that conversation he was kind, gentle, engaged and present. You certainly have it right to describe Rob as humble. He was the real deal. I truly am sorry for your loss of a grand man.
