MALLINSON, Julia Marie

MALLINSON, Julia Marie

It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Julia Marie Mallinson announce her passing on February 1, 2021, at the age of 63.

Julia will be deeply missed by her husband Mark and his daughter Alice (Tate); her daughters Genny (Dane) and Alyssa; her grandchildren Kellan, Olivia, and Nevaeh; her brother Ron Lustig (Wendy); and her nephews Austin(Shanelle) and Reid. She was predeceased by her parents WIlliam and Margaret Lustig.

Julia was a knowledgeable and compassionate professional in her many nursing roles and had a lasting positive impact on the many people she worked with over the years.

Her nursing career started at the Plains Hospital in Regina, SK, and from there she worked at Kelowna General Hospital where she poured her heart and soul into the setup of COACH Cardiac Rehab Program. She then worked at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB and eventually made the move back to Kelowna, BC to marry Mark, and would again work at Kelowna General in Cardiology where she retired after a 40-year nursing career.

Julia was such a bubbly little person with an energy, and fun-loving, spirit that was contagious. She had impeccable style and was always perfectly put together.

Julia took a sincere interest in the lives of all those around her from co-workers to family and friends and was always there for so many.

She loved spending time in her yard and decorating it extra special for holidays. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she loved spending time with them.

Julia was a loyal and caring person who loved her family and friends with her whole heart and was truly a beautiful person inside and out!

The family would like to thank Norean, Lisa, and Sarah from the stroke team as well as the staff on 4B at Kelowna General for taking such great care of Julia after she suffered from a brain aneurysm in October.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

If you so wish, a donation in memory of Julia can be made to either COACH or the Cardiology Department at Kelowna General Hospital, www.kghfoundation.com. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com (click direct link below)

My deepest sympathies to Mark and all of Julia’s family. Not a day goes by since the passing of my beautiful friend Julia that I do not miss her dearly. We became fast friends while Julia worked at Foothills Hospital in the role of a nurse practitioner on a busy thoracic unit. She was a consummate professional, leader and especially gifted at educating others. Even with the responsibilities she carried, her gentle fun-loving nature made working with her a joy. Julie, thank you for the most wonderful gift of friendship. Come visit me in the form of a Northern Flicker, the best dressed bird in the bird world. Like you, they are elegant and always dressed for a special occasion. As Henry Scott-Holland so eloquently wrote in his poem “All Is Well’, death, I believe, is like stepping into the next room.

    ________________________________________

    Death is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away into the next room.

I am I, and you are you.

Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.

Put no difference in your tone,

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me and if you want to, pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,

Let it be spoken without effect,

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.

    It is the same as it ever was;

    There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight

    I am waiting for you,

    For an interval,

    Somewhere very near,

    Just around the corner.

    All is well.

    - by Henry Scott-Holland

Julia was such an amazing friend and person. She will be deeply missed by everyone she touched. I loved our times spent together and will hold those memories close to my heart. She was taken from us all much too early. Her love of life was infectious and I will miss our golf days and many giggles. Wes and I will also miss our fun dinners and wine with Julia and Mark, she was always a great hostess. Thinking of Mark, families and friends who all share in this sadness as we remember Julia and her bright smile. Love and condolences. Sherrie and Wes Shoemaker

Julia was such a great friend. We became closer over the years and as our fellows were off golfing together, we ladies enjoyed our own golf days ,lunches and planning dinner parties. Julia's excitement and openness for trying new fun experiences was contagious as was her smile and laugh. She truly was avant garde with her fashion sense ,an amazing chef and gardener. We enjoyed lively wine time afternoons around the pool and the meticulously groomed back yard. She and I shared many a conversation about being new grandparents and she liked to pick my brain about real estate from time to time. I will truly miss dear Julia. Deepest sympathies to Mark her daughters, and brother.

I'm sad that we lost touch over the years but I often thought of her and how happy she was when she met Mark. I'm heartbroken about her passing and send my condolences to Mark, Genny, Alyssa and the rest of her family. I will remember you dancing and smiling Julia!
