MADSEN, Erna - The family of Vaughn and Erna Madsen announce the passing of Erna Madsen on July 8, 2011. Erna was predeceased by Vaughn on January 9, 2006.

They were born in Denmark in 1924 and married in 1945. Vaughn worked in the oil patch and they lived in Denmark, England, Africa and Borneo before they immigrated to Calgary along with their sons, Gert and Jan, in 1958. In Calgary they were involved in the geophysical and Arctic marine exploration industry. After their retirement in 1981 they lived in Salt Spring Island, Victoria and Kelowna and enjoyed gardening, many cruises and vacations in Hawaii.

Vaughn and Erna are survived by their sons Gert (Karen) and Jan (Judy); their grandchildren Corey, Tyler (Sarah), Joel, Dale (Anna-Marie) and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Emmett and Oliver.
