LARSON, Clay

LARSON, Clay

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend, Clay Larson on November 13, 2017. Survived by his loving wife Brenda, sons Eric (Erin) and Scott (Laura), step-daughter Leah Zimmermann (Jason), grandchildren Taylor, Blair, Emmet, Kristen, Danika and Ava and sisters Marion, Tess, Esther and Ruth. Predeceased by his parents Art and Olga, sister Ethel and brothers Vance (Paul), Melford, Einar and Carl. Following 6 years as a pilot in the Air Force, Clay studied law at UBC and went on to practice in Kelowna for many years before retiring in 2010. He and Brenda enjoyed so many wonderful times together travelling with Brenda's business, cooking dinners, sharing a bottle of red wine, walking, golfing, laughing and spending time with good friends and family. Clay took such pleasure in spending time at their Mexican home on Isla Mujeres - relaxing on the beach or enjoying the balcony view, usually with a Margarita in hand! His engaging smile and laughter lit up a room! Even as dementia stole so much from him, he maintained his great sense of humour! The family wants to thank the wonderful staff in the Pioneer Ward at Spring Valley Care Centre for the excellent care and support given to Clay and Brenda during the past year and a half. At Clay's request, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of BC would be appreciated. Please join the family at an Open House to celebrate Clay's life on Sunday November 19th, between 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Clubhouse at 950 Lanfranco Rd. If you have something red, please wear it for Clay.
You have your wings again, Clay. Fly high and watch over us all. Thanks for the memories!
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com Arrangements entrusted to Valleyview Funeral Home, 250-765-3147.

    Brenda and family;

    Sorry for your loss. Clay always gave my Radio business partner Bob Hall and me good advice (as our lawyer) in a timely manner. Especially when we signed on our first Kelowna Radio station CKIQ AM1150 in 1971 and when we purchased the Trail Radio station a number of years later. His service was professional, punctual and correct. He was fun to work with. We were honored to know him. A first class gentleman. Fun to be with. Clay was special.

    What a great guy Clay was. He was our lawyer in the early nineties and we sat in his office and concluded many real estate transactions. He always enjoyed a good laugh. Sometimes I would open my briefcase and put a beach towel, suntan lotion and beach sandals on his desk. What's that for he would say? Well now you have made a pile of money off me I suppose you will be away on another holiday! He would get a good chuckle out of that.

    Yes, a real nice gentleman and my wife and I respected him greatly.

    Our condolences to his family at this sad time.

    When my partners and I were developing the Four Seasons Racquet Club and seeking support, Clay was one of our first tennis members and actively endorsed the facility throughout the community and Valley. Kathy and I will always remember the bright twinkle in his eyes every time he smiled.

    Brenda and family;

    My condolences on the passing of Clay. He was my predecessor by one year at articles but, by reason of his other endeavors, much more experienced than myself. I valued his advice and missed him when he left for other opportunities. His confidence and self-assuredness was a good example to emulate.

    Sincerely, Grant Hardwick
