Obituaries

Following open heart surgery and months of struggle, Jakob finally came to peace with family by his side on June 14, 2013 at the age of 77. He is remembered by his loving wife Katica, his daughters: Vesna (Jeff) Sloan of Rochester, MN and Renata Kruc of Winnipeg, MB; their three wonderful grandchildren: Elizabeth, Marilyn and Alan Sloan; his sisters: Jagica Krajac and Magda Brajkovic, both of Zagreb, Croatia, and many nieces and nephews and their families. He is sadly predeceased by 2 brothers, Mirko and Josip. Jakob was born in Zagreb, Croatia where he met and married the love of his life, Katica, over 55 years ago. In 1968, Jakob, Katica and their two young daughters came to live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After retiring ten years ago, they decided to move to the warmer climes of Kelowna, BC, where they could be found enjoying a friendly game of bocci at least a couple of times a week. Prayers will be recited on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, with Father Wayne Pfliger officiating.
