KRAHN, Glen Gary

KRAHN, Glen Gary

August 1st, 1954 - December 29th, 2017

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle at the age of 63 years on the morning of December 29th. Glen is survived by his wife of 43 years, Leslie; son Chad and wife Kara-Lee and grandchildren Carson, Brady, Makena; son Ryan and wife Jennifer and twin grandchildren Rebecca and Nolin; son Scott and fiancé Anna; sister Beverley and husband Carl; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Glen is also survived by loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Glen was predeceased by father Herb, mother Anne, and brother, Miles.

Although taken far too early, Glen lived life to its fullest. He was not a collector of things but rather people; curious about every person that he met with a knack for finding common ground with everyone. While occasionally forgetting a name, he never forgot a face and remembered those that he met 20 years ago. His proudest accomplishment was not his early successes in business but his three sons and the great individuals that they have come to be, also starting wonderful families of their own and providing him with five amazing grandchildren. Although family was always first, Glen’s second passion was travel. These travels allowed him to see amazing places and meet amazing people, many of whom are still friends today.

The family would like to thank Dr. Graeme McCauley, Dr. Kathea Clarke and all the nurses and staff of Unit 4B at Kelowna General Hospital, for the outstanding care and attention that they paid to Glen during his stay.

In respect of Glen's wishes, no formal service will be held. In true Glen spirit we will have a celebration in the spring with all of the people that Glen collected over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.

Frank & I are so sorry to hear of Glen's passing. It was so sudden. Seeing you both the beginning of this year at Trilogy was such a great surprise. I was so looking forward to you both coming back. Glen was so full of life, a great listener & was always smiling. He was taken from us way to soon. I know this will be really tough on you since you both always did everything together. Having the support of your family & friends will definitely help. I am retired & in Trilogy until June. Take care & be well.

The world has lost a great spirit in Glen Krahn. Most us were blessed at one time or another to have Glenn in our lives. Glen always had time to talk to you and always asked how I was doing. He always asked how my family was doing. He was a humble man who was sincere. I met Glenn at the rink when he moved from Calgary. He was a great volunteer. He always had a smile on his face and was positive about life. He loved his wife Lesley , sons Chad, Ryan & Scott. His family is what Glenn lived for. I'm going to miss him and I know his legacy will live through the boys. To Leslie and the boys, thank you for sharing your dad with the rest of us.

    Leslie and family,
Forty plus years may have taken our lives in different directions but time has not dimmed the special bond of friendship we shared together. My heart aches for you Leslie. Being there at the beginning of your relationship it was clear to see you and Glen had the start of something very special. You loved one another from the start. I remember you, Glen and I going for root beer floats at A&W and Glen enjoyed his so much he ordered a second! :) Glen was a good man, husband and father and he will be missed always. It is my prayer that as time moves forward you will see Glen live on in the hearts and lives of your sons and your grandchildren. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Leslie and Family, I remember so vividly a year ago December sitting in David Vail's living room with you and Glen, the two of you were so supportive and gave me such peace as we discussed Tad's illness. I felt genuine concern and caring. Glen made me feel at ease and continued to do so as he responded to my emails. That is how we will remember him, a gentle man with a huge heart!! What a beautiful gift he had.

Dear Leslie, Chad, Ryan, Scott and all the Family,
The Cescon family, like so many others, were saddened by the news of Glen's illness and subsequent passing, but give thanks for the privilege of knowing him and all of you. Too many years to count, but oh so many fond memories between the two families. Glen was a faithful, fun and honest friend. His ready smile, antics and sense of humour never failed to delight us. His love of you Leslie was never hidden, nor was his pride in his family. Over the years, we shared both laughter and tears, right up until the end. He will always be alive in our hearts, your hearts, as well as many others. Gonna tip a little shot of Grappa to a good man and a life well lived. He would like and approve of that.
With our deepest sympathies and love,
Zeno, Sandy, Michael, Paul and Families

We cannot express the loss of your husband and loving father. He was the proudest man of his three boys. Leslie we know how much you will miss him but you had a wonderful life together , travelled the world and truly enjoyed each others company. We loved skiing with Glen, and no matter what he did it was always in high gear. He truly was a genuine person.

Glen will always be in our thoughts. He was a person with vision and always willing to listen. We spent many hours trying to solve the hockey world problems and sometime we actually solved world problems. He always was always proud of his children and also proud of the accomplishments of his friends and their families.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Dear Leslie and families:
Still hard to believe that Glen is no longer with us. I thought with his determination and stamina he would beat this terrible disease!! It just has no mercy!!! It just seems to eat away at so many wonderful people!! He definitely will be missed by so many people!! I only wish we could have spent more time together but wishing doesn't bring anyone back!! We just take for granted that people will be around for ever. So sad!! Love you guys and my condolences go out to you and all your families. I really hope that I will be back in time for the celebration of Glen's life. Many hugs!!

Dear Leslie, Chad and the rest of the Krahn Family,
I still can't believe Glen is no longer with us and I will always be thankful that we got to reconnect over the last few years when you came back to Kelowna so the two of you could be here to help Miles in his time of need. Your entire family is an amazing group, and I can't count the times Glen told me how proud he was of the boy's and how lucky he was to have you Leslie by his side, and I will always hold the warmest of thoughts in my heart for Glen. Stay strong as I know Glen is watching over you.

    Leslie Chad, family and friends.
We were incredibly sad and shocked to hear that Glen left us forever. We hadn't known him long but had liked him right away. We are snow birds from Ontario but met him here at Trilogy in Arizona. He was a man without a mask. He was open, honest excepting of everyone. We were waiting for Leslie and Glen to join his AZ friends again this season, when we learned of his death. He will be missed and spoken of, often. His sense of humour was legendary and his heart immense.

Enjoyed seeing you at the park in Kettle Valley this summer as your grandchildren were playing at the same time as mine. Living at 319 Quilchena Drive and hope that you will drop by for a visit in the near future. Love and Hugs Carol Sicoli (formerly Mercier).

Leslie and family, when we first met Glen and Leslie we immediately liked both of them. Glen always had a smile on his face and was quick to laugh. He made you feel like you were the only person in the room when he spoke to you, and without bragging gave credit to Leslie for making him the man he was. He was strong and healthy when we left Kelowna in the fall and we are absolutely in shock that we will never be able to see him again. Our thoughts and prayers are now for Leslie and the kids. If we can help you with anything we will be there for you.

So many memories of family celebrations filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable "Krahnism"!
