KOIVISTO, Geneva Arlene

KOIVISTO, Geneva Arlene passed away on March 3, 2010 in Summerland at the Dr. Andrews Rest Home.

Geneva was born September 28, 1914 in Gilman, Iowa to Hazel and Harry Sarver, she was the first born of a family of seven. When Geneva was a child the family moved to Canada residing in Alberta. That is where she met and married Elmer Koivisto. They had three girls Arlene, Shirley and Carol. Elmer worked at several mills learning the trade of a saw filer, with the two of them opening a shop in Williams Lake named Koivisto Sales and Service. After running the shop for ten years they decided to sell it and after the sale they hopped on a plane and spent two months in Hawaii, a well deserved holiday. They then retired to Kelowna enjoying their own special time together, and going to auctions and garage sales. In 1981 Elmer passed away. Geneva then spent the remaining years in Kelowna and just recently moved to Summerland to a rest home.

Predeceased by her husband Elmer, her daughter Arlene, grandson Randy, brothers; Burton and Ernie, and her sister Helen. Leaving behind to mourn her death are her daughters; Carol and Shirley as well as numerous grandchildren.

A time of remembrance will be held on March 12, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, B.C.
