KALLER: Damon Michael
Kaller : Damon Michael, 48, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2012 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Damon was born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan on July 30, 1964.
He graduated from Immaculata High School in Kelowna in 1982 and continued to university receiving degrees in biochemistry (B.Sc.) at UBC and computer science (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) at SFU. Damon was raised in a loving, Catholic household and consistently demonstrated the virtues of his Faith. He inspired all with his courageous spirit and gentle nature. Despite the many challenges of his illnesses, he continued to maintain a cheerful and optimistic spirit without complaint.Damon enjoyed the bounties of nature. He loved pitch-and-putt golfing, traveling, cooking and solving complex puzzles. Damon is survived by his parents, Cecil and Theresa, and by his brothers Kevin (Ruth), Brian (Susan) and Alan (Chris). Damon is lovingly remembered by nephews Martin, Samson, Kayden, Jaron and Liam and by niece Jaclyn. He will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. His family thanks many loyal friends who continued to be a major part of his life throughout the difficult times.
The family is especially grateful to nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver for their compassionate care for Damon during the past three months.
Services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kelowna on November 1st and 2nd, 2012 with interment at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to the Palliative Care Unit, (10th floor) St. Paul’s Hospital or the B.C. Cancer Agency.
