Doug always had a warm smile and kind word every time we saw him. From the time I was a little girl right up until my dad's funeral he always made the time. Hard working, kind, family man. He will be missed by many. My deepest condolences to you both.

My sister and I always called Doug an "Earth Angel !" When my Dad moved in next door to them, he was always bringing him treats, getting his groceries when he couldn't and driving him places and appointments when my Dad couldn't drive. I always could relax knowing that Doug was right next door. What an amazing man!! He will be missed by so many of us. May God bless Rita and Jason with his comfort and peace at this time. Glad to have known Doug who was a good friend to all. Met him at Rutland through Rutland Builders and the Knights of Columbus. Many times he would be working in Victoria, and never missed an opportunity to visit with us. Always had a story to tell, and loved his family. Doug will surely be missed by all who knew him.

As a child, I would wait by the door for the arrival of my Uncle Doug. I adored the attention and the teasing he would shower on me and my sister. He was so fun and had a great sense of humour. I loved his laugh and the fact he made me feel ever so clever and loved. When I was in university he would make time to treat me to dinner and was a solid support. As an adult, I deeply appreciated his emails and cards for my family' birthdays, and my husband and my anniversary - he never missed a one. Uncle Doug was a wonderful person and I could not have asked for a better uncle. His deep love and commitment to his family was easily felt in his presence. Auntie Rita and Jason, I am so sorry. May you feel God's love and comfort in this very difficult time. My love, thoughts and prayers are with you.

I got to know Doug through the Knights of Columbus in Rutland. Doug was a person who didn't seek praise but behind the scenes he was instrumental in assisting to establish low cost housing rental complexes EG the Father Ed Lestre housing Society on Houghton Rd. Doug was a caring and talented Soul. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our deepest condolences to Rita and Jason.
