Iceton, Doreen Aurora
Iceton (nee Gowing): Doreen Aurora Gowing passed away at Cottonwoods Care Facility on July 20, 2011 at the age of 81. Doreen was born in Irricana, Alberta to Stanley and Vivian Gowing along with two other sisters, Shirley & Yvonne and 6 brothers; Norman, Lorne, Robert, Donald, Merle and Kenny. At 19 she met and married her true love, Robert Henry Iceton, together they had seven children; Le (Ann) Iceton of Armstrong, BC, Darlene (Wayne) Becker of Kelowna, BC, Ron (Marylou) Iceton of Lake Country, BC, Kathy (Robert) d’Haene (both deceased), Wayne (Kim) Iceton of Drumheller, AB, Richard Iceton, deceased and Randy (Sherri) Iceton of Stavely, AB. Doreen has 11 grandchildren, Katie Iceton, Trent Becker, Brenda Howard, Shay Becker, Colton Iceton, Kelsey Iceton, Chad d’Haene, Brad d’Haene, Krystalyn d’Haene, Cody d’Haene, Ashley Iceton, Samantha Iceton and Trevor Iceton(TJ) and 6 great grandchildren. In her career, not only did she raise her children, she also worked outside the home, providing delicious meals to hospital patients in Oyen, AB and cooking for residents at the High Country Lodge in Black Diamond, AB. When she became a resident it was hard for her not to give her point of view of how cooking should be done. Her children and grandchildren were her treasures and she always lit up when they would come to visit. Mom had a heart of gold, no question about that. Her time on earth has come to a close and she is now with family members that have gone before her. We will truly miss her.
We wish to thank Dr. Sokol for all of moms care since moving to BC. A special thank you to the Cottonwoods Care Facility for their care and support. It is all of the people together (nurses, lpn’s, care-aids, custodial, reception and of course the wonderful volunteers) that make Cottonwoods such a great place.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall in Lake Country.
