Gwen and family, my condolences on your loss. Bill was inspired by the work that your father did for the community of Kelowna and we are indeed fortunate that this is where he chose to bring up his family. Thinking of you all at this time and glad that you will have many good memories of his long and eventful life.

    To Elaine and Gwen,

Our lives here in Kelowna have often followed similar paths.

Our Dad passed away five years ago today, he was five years older than your Dad.

Both of them lived long and honourable lives, the kind of men we wish all could be!

    Thinking of you,

    Marjorie Beales

To the Hughes-Games family, Gwen & Elaine,

I first knew your father & mother through my parents in the late 1940s when they all belonged to the CCF Party. We had many fun times at picnics, meetings, etc. I also worked at Sears with your mother in the early 1970s. Your Dad had a great love of Kelowna history, of which I did, too, so we spent time at occasions reminiscing. Another grand person from the good old days of Kelowna.

    Our condolences to you all.

Norma, Gwen and extended family. I had the honour to know Art through our Monday night bridge club. Art always had an interesting story to tell about the old times in Kelowna or while he was at war. Thanks for the memories Art, may you rest in peace.

Norma, and the entire Hughes-Games family.....so sorry to hear of Art's passing. Enjoyed his and Norma's company on several small group tours from 1998 on. And yes, there certainly is another bright star in our sky.....Joan Luckhart

"One more star in the sky", indeed. As a former CO of the Ogopogo Air Cadet Squadron (and an Air Force brat), I always considered Art to be the epitome of the Air Force motto, Per Ardua Ad Astra. I recall sitting with jaw agape at a St. Michael's Men's Breakfast meeting when Art (20 years my senior) gave an amazing account of his West Coast Trail adventure. Sincere condolences to the family and to Norma.

Sorry to hear of Art's final adventure. Now he is singing and telling stories in heaven. I saw Art a few weeks ago and we reminisced about our days on the stage and Fiddler on The Roof. He leaves a great legacy. Jim Oakes

My thoughts go out to your family. I knew Art from Barbershoppers in the 1980s. He was a very friendly, calm, peaceful man who lived his life to the fullest.

What a guy, I never really knew how busy he was beyond our singing together.

    He will rest in Peace.

Gwen my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your Dad was very loving - he and your Mum made a great difference to my Dad after his car accident. He spent many an evening playing crib with my Dad so that he wouldn't feel lonely. God bless.

We met your mom and dad years ago when they allowed people to view their yard on one of the Garden Tours. It was a short visit, of course, but your father came to mind many times over the years, such was the force of his personality. What an amazing man & what a wonderful life & incredible legacy. Our condolences to his family.

He was a passionate man first of all for Canada and then Kelowna. As a child going to Meikles with my Dad was always a highlight for me, Mr.Hughes-Games was always smiling and interested in what our family was up to. He was truly an ambassador for our great city. Downtown has always missed Mr.Hughes-Games.

Our thoughts and prayers our with you.

My mom Joan Chamberlain and your Dad were born the same year and went to school together. They were great friends and often called each other to chat about "old Kelowna " which they both loved dearly. My Mum has been gone 6 years. Always so hard to lose a parent.

My condolences to the Hughes-Games family, with thanks to their patriarch for all he managed to accomplish in his very full lifetime. The Rotary Marshes at Brandt Creek is legacy enough, but Art left many gifts for many generations of Kelowna residents and visitors. With sincere regrets for your loss. Donna Rubadeau
