HUGHES, Derek Vernon

Born July 29, 1937 in Audenshaw, England and died on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 79. Survived by his loving wife Rita; daughters: Debbie Hughes-Armstrong (Jim Armstrong) of Kelowna, BC, Angela Hughes (Dan Bourgeois) of Vancouver, BC; sister Rita Bridge (Desmond) of Cheshire, England; and niece Diane (David) Porter. There will be no service by request. A special thank you to the staff at Kelowna General Hospital for their kindness and care in his final days. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Lakeview Lodge and his primary care physician, Dr. A. Spiess, for their compassion and care for the past two years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) www.lbda.org/donate or the BC SPCA, http://spca.bc.ca/support/ . informed me of Derek having passed away. I Remember having holidays in the early fifties with Derek in Manchester. I also remember visiting Manchester with my father Jack Kemp for your wedding in around 196I,

Rita, I am so sorry to hear about Derek's passing. He was always such a kind and gentle man and a lot of fun to work with at the Windmill. We had a lot of laughs. Take care Rita and please give my condolences to Debbie and Jim and Angela and Dan. Wendy Norton
