HEITMAN, Ruth

Ruth was born to John and Orma Waage in Simpson, Saskatchewan with younger sisters Dora and Serena. John and Orma Waage moved to Enderby with their three daughters in 1935 where sister Mary and brother Clarence were born. Ruth’s mother died when she was sixteen and she had to leave school to work and help raise her siblings. She met Vernon (Buster) Heitman at a dance in Enderby and was married in 1951, she moved to Turtle Valley where Buster worked and their two sons (Norman & Brian) were born in Salmon Arm. They returned to Enderby in 1956 and Ruth has resided here ever since. During the years in Enderby raising her family Ruth worked for Baird’s Meat and B.J. Carney Pole Co. Buster and Ruthie were regulars at the Armstrong-Enderby Old Time Dances for over 40 years.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Buster in 2000, and her siblings Serena, Mary and Clarence. She is survived by her sister Dora Vinthers of Vernon. She leaves her sons Norman (Shirley) Heitman of Prince George, BC and Brian (Heather) Heitman of Armstrong, BC, four grandsons and seven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will he held Tuesday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Seniors Activity Center in Enderby with deserts and beverages after. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca.

    For the time I have known Grandma Ruthie(she wasn't my grandma, but everyone called her, their grandma), she was always smiling. I have never seen her mad or unhappy!
    So now she is smiling down at us from the heavens, I am going to miss your smile.
