Mary Heidebrecht passed away very peacefully at the Kelowna General Hospital, only days after celebrating her 94th birthday with her family.

In answer to her fervent prayers, Mom experienced only a brief illness before she went to be with her Lord and Saviour. An independent person whose commitment to Christ was evident, mom fought to keep walking, talking and engaging with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her oldest grandson was severely injured in a family car crash, Mom committed herself to helping him as much as she was able for the rest of her life. Her family was her life. Two days before her death, Mom stated to her emergency room doctor that she would be praying for her family until God told her she was done. Only then would she be ready to go home. Her praying was completed the morning of Thursday, September 13th.

Mom was born in 1924 in Hierschau, Ukraine. Her family came to Canada when Mom was 2 years old. Mom grew up in the Grande Prairie, Alberta, area. After marrying our dad, they farmed in the area until 1990, after which they retired to Kelowna.

Mom was predeceased by our dad, John Heidebrecht a decade ago. She is survived by her children, son Allen (Louise), daughters Lorraine (John), Carol (Carl), Irma (Bruce), Verda, Terri (Bruce). Her life was brightened by her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The importance of relationship with her family fueled the use of her ipad.
