HARDING, Joseph

HARDING, Joseph (b. Dec.14, 1938) died suddenly Jan. 17 from heart failure.

He is survived by sons John (Philippa) of West Kelowna and Jeff (Emily) of Victoria and four grandchildren: Connor, Molly, Katie and Sophia.

Joe was born and raised in Saint John, NB and enjoyed sports as a youngster. He moved to Hamilton, Ont. as a teen and began work in the factories. He married Joan (nee Hind) in the early 1960s and they began a family that moved to Grimsby, Ont. and then to Fort Saskatchewan, AB while Joe worked for Shell Oil. Joe enjoyed watching his sons play hockey and he coached rep teams. He also built a popular backyard rink in Grimsby. Joe moved to Kelowna in 1989 and worked for the City for about a decade, primarily at Memorial Arena. After retiring, Joe lived for a time in Peachland before settling at Fernbrae Manor. No matter where he was, Joe enjoyed watching and followed closely his beloved Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.

The family held a private service.

The family would also like to thank the compassionate professionals at Fernbrae Manor and KGH.

Messages to the family can be emailed to: conmolkat@hotmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
