HANSON, James (Jim) Martin - It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of James (Jim) Martin Hanson on July 10, 2011.

Dad will sadly be missed by his wife of 60 years, Valerie, and four children; David, Murray, Chris and Paddy, their spouses and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dad was born in Drumheller, Alberta and came to the Okanagan Valley in 1948 to play for the Kelowna Packer’s hockey team as one of its original players. Dad was inspired by the beauty of the Okanagan Valley and decided to settle here and raise a family. Dad and Mom bought an orchard in East Kelowna and Dad became a passionate orchardist who loved pruning.

The family would like to thank Community Care nurse Trace Rush and Dr. P. Hart for their kind and compassionate care.

A private family celebration was Dad’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of BC and the Kelowna Hospice House 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 2Z6 .
