Dad will be missed by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Canada. His wonderful niece Gail (Danny) Rice, Halifax, NS will always hold a special place in our fathers heart.
After serving 35 years in the RCAF Dad, Mom and Rick moved to Westbank, BC (Okanagan Valley) where he soon became a lifelong member of the Legion. Dad and Mom spent countless hours volunteering among the community, singing and performing for many senior centres, and wherever a singer and piano player were needed. Though they made their home in BC, our parents never forgot their Maritime roots and spent many summers travelling across Canada visiting family and friends along the way. A good feed of lobster was always waiting when they reached PEI thanks to all their wonderful relatives.
Dad was such a loving father with a wonderful sense of humour and a voice like an angel. He loved the simple things in life such as making his homemade beans, birdwatching from their Shannon Lake home, puttering in his garage, travelling, reading, spending time with his beautiful wife, "Barbie", and singing. Friends and family will never forgot "Santa" George....every Christmas he would don his Santa suit and bring many smiles to the children in the community by showing up with gifts. His beautiful blue eyes shone when he was surrounded by his family. Family brought the most joy to our father. He tirelessly made sure we never went without. Not an easy task with a large family to feed.
Our family would like to thank Lucy, our special family friend who devoted so much love and kindness by taking care of both of our ailing parents in recent months but most of all by always being there when we needed her the most. Thank you to Dr. David Hawkins and staff who helped lift Dad's spirits Dr. Hawkins made many special visits to see our father and always made our father feel like he was much more than a patient. A warm thank you to Sarah, care-aid at Cottonwoods; care-aids Dee and Melissa who both gave our father a reason to smile every morning while in the Village at Smith Creek. You both went above and beyond to make our father's last days happier.
Dad you fly like an eagle, soar like a dove.
You will always sing to us from the skies above.
We will continue to live on in all that you have taught us.
You will live on with so many happy times you have brought us.
You and Mom are once again are making beautiful music together.
Forever missed, forever loved.
