GUNDERSON, Charlotte Elizabeth Janet

GUNDERSON, Charlotte Elizabeth Janet

On Monday, September 24th, 2018 Charlotte Elizabeth Janet Gunderson completed her physical journey on this earth. Despite carrying the burden of recurrent lung cancer and COPD she carried this weight without complaint and continued to live her life with grace and dignity. The path she walked was filled with love, compassion and generosity and it was for this mom will be remembered, loved and painfully missed.

Charlotte was born Charlotte Williams to Edward and Evelyn Williams November 15th, 1936 in Livelong Saskatchewan. Mom left home at the young age of 17 and found her way to Spiritwood, Sask. While working in the retail business she met the very handsome Allan. They were married in 1954 and worked at various jobs. Mom and dad bought the Burger Bar and Spiritwood was never the same. Later on once her kids moved on she sold it and started a completely different career. She worked for Canada Post for approximately 16 years. Mom retired and her and dad moved to Kelowna in 2004 to be with their family. The plan was to live in Kelowna for the winter and then move back to Spiritwood in the summer. It never happened. Our dad Allan predeceased mom. Also predeceased, her mom and dad Edward and Evelyn Williams. Sadly her two bothers Lawrence and Edward also passed way too soon. Surviving Charlotte is her sister Mary and husband Barry and their children who were very special to mom. Many nieces and nephews all had special places in mom's heart and she was so grateful for everyone who came to visit and phoned. Missing mom are Darrell (Claire), children Danni, Lisa (Tyler), Adam (Kylie); Lynn (Kim) children Lance (Shannon), Kaz, Kiri, Tanita (Jason); Dean (Tanis) and Kayla. Missing Nana are her great grandkids: Jordyn, Taelor, Aidric; Naomie and Vanessa; Aiden and Kohen; Maitreya.

The life that mom lived is a path that should guide us in our journeys and although she no longer walks among us may her spirit guide us. At her request, there will be no funeral mass but an interment of her ashes will be done in the spring beside Dad in the Norbury District. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Agency of your choice.

Thank you to Dr. Klammer and all the other amazing Health Care workers. Thank you to the nurses at the Hospice House in Kelowna and to the Respiratory Homecare who looked after mom with great care. Another BIG THANK YOU goes to the Staff at Dyck's Pharmacy.
