GULEVICH, Walter

GULEVICH, Walter

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Walter Gulevich on December 4, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce.

Walter was born in Mundare AB in 1933. In 1952 Walter met his wife to be, Joyce Batiuk, married in 1954 and they began their family in 1955. Walter and Joyce lived on a farm near Mundare AB, moving to Edmonton AB, Prince George BC, Peachland BC and finally, Walter settling by himself in Sidney BC in 2015. Walter was a very devoted husband and father. Along with being patient, he would place others' needs before his own.

Walter is survived by his loving children: David (wife Joanne), Donald (wife Joanne), Valerie (husband Scott), Denise (husband Ken), Glen (wife Cynthia); grandchildren: Amanda, Dana, Todd, Brett, Lindsey, Ashley, Andrew, Levi, Bethany, Israel, Curtis, Spencer; great grandchildren: Alexa, Ewan, Audra, Grace, Mason and his sister Vicki (husband Jim).

We would like to say a very special thank you to staff and friends at the Shoal Independent Living Centre, where he lived for the past two years. Life became exciting again with new found friends and activities filling each and every day. Rumor has it, he even attempted singing ONCE, the family publicly apologizes for that.

Prayers will be held on Friday, December 8th at 7:30 pm, followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, December 9th at 9:00 am, both at the Dormition of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1091 Coronation Avenue, Kelowna, BC. Interment to take place in the Peachland Cemetery. Glen, so very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. What a wonderful gift to spend the last year's of his life meeting new people and living again...no doubt he's singing again from above.
