GULENCHYN, Susan (Sue) Linda

GULENCHYN, Susan (Sue) Linda

Passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on January 4, 2019 at Central Okanagan Hospice House at the age of 66. Sue was born June 26, 1952 in Toronto, Ontario. She is survived by her sons Thomas and Colin, daughter-in-law Sara, grandson Tristan, her brother Ron Basarab of Winnipeg MB, and her sister Karen Mellor (Don) of Kelowna BC. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Mary Gulenchyn of Vernon BC, her brother-in-law Rick Gulenchyn (Sandra), her brother-in-law Randy Gulenchyn (Nicole), her sister-in-law Linda Shea (Gord) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Ken Gulenchyn, father William Basarab and mother Marcelline Basarab. She was raised in Toronto and later moved to Winnipeg where she met her loving husband Ken. They were married on March 3, 1973 and moved to Kelowna in 1975.
Sue loved life and couldn’t wait for the next adventure. Her caring nature and persistence in putting others before herself only made her more loved by family and friends alike; their lives were enriched immeasurably by her compassion, integrity and strength of character. She will be sadly missed; however, she goes now to join her husband—two finer human beings never existed.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna BC.
Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to Central Okanagan Hospice House or BC Cancer – Kelowna. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting

So saddened to read of your loss. I knew Ken and Sue through their generosity as your family renovated our house on Cadder Ave into a Family Centre. Condolences to your family during this time of loss.

Sue was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She had so many friends and family who loved her dearly. She always told me she had a wonderful life with Ken and her beautiful boys and their family and friends. We were all blessed to know her and love her and she will be terribly missed but will live in our hearts forever.
