GUINDON, Kenneth Richard

GUINDON, Kenneth Richard

April 12, 1937 - September 26, 2017

It is with a very heavy heart, that we the family, announce the passing of Kenneth Guindon.

Born in Timmins Ontario, the youngest of six, to Adele and Wilfred Guindon.

Left to mourn is his wife, Shirley, of sixty years; his children, Leonard and (Linda) Guindon of North Bay Ontario, Katherine Guindon, Murray Guindon, Tammy and Lory Filgate of Beaverdell BC. Grandchildren Scott, David, Shawn, Jessica, Taylor, Sarah, Matthew and Jack. Great grand-children Alexa, Liam and Melina.

Dad was a miner for most of his life. From his late teens until Teck (Beaverdell) closed in 1991.

Ken and Shirley married in 1957 and lived in Timmins until 1980 when they decided to leave the freezing winters of northern Ontario behind them, for the balmy weather of the Okanagan Valley. They packed up the house and their two remaining children, and off they were to their next adventure. Their first stop was Cawston, where they bought a little hobby farm that he loved. Dad loved BC, his only regret, was that he didn't move west sooner. He called Cawston "Gods, country." He loved everything the Okanagan had to offer. He had first heard of the Okanagan valley when he was in grade school, by the catholic nuns. From then, he knew he wanted to live in this beautiful place that we all call home.

He enjoyed canning, gardening, cooking his famous spaghetti sauce, his crock pot baked beans, the Jays, the Canucks, and most importantly, his family.

Dad always had a soft heart for those he treasured most. He loved nothing more then to talk to his children and grand-children. Dad, was thru, and thru a devoted family man that would take the shirt off his back, for anyone he felt was worthy of assistance. He was an old timer that was a straight shooter and would call a spade a spade.

The world is truly a sadder place, for those of us that loved him. He enriched our lives, more then he will ever know. He will be missed, greatly.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date when we can all be together under the same roof.
