GOUGH, Joyce Louise

Passed away on December 28, 2011 at the age of 75, after a long illness.

She is survived by her husband Neville of Kelowna, her daughter Lisa (Blair) and their children Linus and Freeman of Victoria as well as sister Ivy Clare of New York.

Joyce was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She studied and graduated in 1958 in nursing from the University of the West Indies Hospital. She worked at the teaching hospital for a year and then onto Vancouver General Hospital in 1959. In 1961 she returned to Jamaica and then back to Canada in 1967 to work at the Kelowna General Hospital in many disciplines until 1991. Joyce set and maintained high professional standards throughout her nursing career. She was a generous, devoted mother and proud grandmother.

Special thanks to Dr. Peter Butterworth, Dr. Doug Rolf and Dr. Stuart Seigel as well as the nursing staff at Cottonwoods Convalescent Home for the excellent care. Friends of the family are invited to meet her immediate family on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm for a memorial service at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.
