GLANFIELD, Brian Adair

GLANFIELD, Brian Adair

We are sad to announce the passing of our loving husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend - Brian Glanfield. Although his passing took his loved ones by surprise, Brian had been living with Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow cancer) for over 2 years, which had caused him considerable pain & discomfort.

He died after a short stay at the Salmon Arm Hospital, on Wednesday, May the 16th, at age 75. Brian is survived by his wife, Joan, children, Allison (Guy) and Jody (Moy), grandsons Kiernan and Adam, sibling Oliver (Marjorie), and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, and siblings Lucy, Ruth, Peggy, and Fred.

Brian was born September 18th, 1942 in Rimbey, Alberta to Fredrick and Anne Glanfield of Hoadley, Alberta. He was the baby of 6 children and orphaned at the young age of 12 years when his mom died. From that time, he was raised by his oldest brother, Fred, who had a farm.

Dad had an adventurous life, cheerfully connecting with others on his journeys. He met mom (Joan Upton) in the fall of 1963 while attending the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Together they chose to teach in Birmingham, England, for 2 years, and to travel in Europe. Next came 3 years teaching in Holman Island, Northwest Territories, an adventure dad never forgot. He especially enjoyed bringing his students from the arctic on a field trip to his brother

Hey Al...what can be said? If I were with you now I would hug you, cry for you and with you. You have told me your dad was a good dad, a good man, a good teacher. I pray during this time of sorrow and business, these memories will come to you softly, to comfort you. And in the future, will make you smile. Virtual hug.......Jean Mooney
