GIGUERE, Shirley Marcia (Flowers)
January 18, 1926 - November 28, 2011

Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the late evening of November 28, 2011, at Polson Care Facility after a 7 year battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Sadly, Marcia was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence, in 2008, as well as her parents Arthur and Marjory Flowers, and brothers Walter, Jack, and Frank. Continuing life without their much loved Mom are sons Gordon (Miriam), Arthur, grandchildren Michael and Jessica, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Mom was a kind and gentle spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest, skiing and golfing right up to her 78th year of life! If Mom wasn't found skiing, golfing, and camping with her friends and family, or helping special needs people to ski at Silver Star, she could be found enjoying various Dixieland Jazz Festivals.

Mom's helpful nature naturally drew her to nursing. She graduated in 1951 as a registered nurse and nursed in various hospitals throughout Canada, finally retiring in the late 1970s at Dellview Hospital here in Vernon. Yet the nurse in Mom never left her even when she was in extended care. If we couldn't find Mom cruising the hallways in her wheelchair we found her amongst her own, the nurses, in the change of shift meetings.

Special thanks to the Polson Staff in the South wing for all of their love and care they gave Mom over the years. It was all very much appreciated.

A Celebration of Life is being held for family and friends.
