GAUDET, Real

GAUDET, Real

May 18, 1935 - October 17, 2021
Maillardville, BC - Kelowna, BC

With family at his side, Real Gaudet passed into the presence of Jesus on October 17, 2021.

Real Vital Joseph Gaudet passed away on the morning of October 17, 2021, at Mission Creek Landing Care Facility surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Raymonde; his six children, Marc, Corinne (Frank), Richard (Rose), Nicole (Scott), Monique (Brian), and Christopher; his grandchildren, Matthew (Lindsay, and her children Jada and Keaton), Jonathan, Adam, Frances (Richard), Cole, Lucas, Landon, Thomas (Alex, and her children Grace and Maddie), Leon, Amanda, Nicholas; as well as his great-grandchildren, Ana, Oakley, and Hudson.

Real came from humble beginnings, born in a small french logging community called Maillardville, BC, his parents Yvan and Germaine and late sister Georgie were great influences on him growing up, teaching him the value of hard work and the love of laughter. Real started working at a young age in the Fraser Mills Lumberyard under his father's care. He developed a love of baseball, and all sports; growing up Real was known as "Powerhouse Gaudet" on the baseball diamond for his home runs and tenacity on the field. Things changed quickly when he met the love of his life, Raymonde Ducharme, sister of his childhood and lifelong best friend Roger. Roger recently passed away and shares similar stories with Real. Many laughs were to be had whenever they were together.

Real and Raymonde were married at an early age in their catholic community, and they were eager to start a family. Five children were born in Coquitlam, BC, surrounded by many loving cousins, extended family, and friends. The family decided to head for greener pastures and move to Kelowna, BC in the mid-seventies, where Real became the first employee for Centennial Packers. Their sixth child was born in Kelowna. Many in-laws followed suit and moved to the Okanagan, and now many Ducharmes and Gaudets are residing here. Real worked very hard to support his family. Even with knee struggles and back issues, he never complained, he was always making jokes and praising the Lord!

Many of his children got married and had families, which Real took great pride in. Real was always happiest when surrounded by his loving family and friends. Sunday was a special day for Real and Raymonde as they spent quality time with their parish community, attending mass and breakfast afterwards.

Real was known for his infectious sense of humour and love of music, playing guitar and singing, drawing inspiration from the likes of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. He was well known for singing "Your Cheating Heart" at many family weddings. At the care facility, Real was well known for bringing joy and laughter to many. All people mattered to Real, as he had a big heart and loved unconditionally, always trying to brighten someone's day.

He was very proud of his extensive family and of his loving wife of 62 years, Raymonde, never wanting to leave her side.

Real you will be missed on earth, but you will be cherished in heaven. You made everyone laugh, and it is a sad day knowing we will never hear your voice again. But, you will live on in our hearts. Thank you Real for your many gifts, you were truly a legend.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Mission Creek Landing. You were amazing and made my dad feel loved. Thank you.

Memorial donations may be sent to support pro-life, a cause that Real believed in, Kelowna Right to Life, lifecollective.io/kelowna.

Vigil and Prayers for the deceased will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 7:00 pm, at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC.

A Funeral Mass will be held on MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2021, AT 10:30 AM, ALSO AT IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, with Fr. Cerlouie Jimenez and Fr. Pierre Ducharme co-presiding, all are welcome to attend if able. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream, a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter. Due to the pandemic restrictions, the family will have a small, private reception.

My condolences to the Gaudet family on the passing of Real, it was actually a shock to me. Real and I worked together at Centennial Packers for almost 16 years. I’ve never laughed more than I did working with Real. Real had no problem speaking his mind. He loved his Montreal Canadiens and being in the hockey pools every year. I’ve missed him for along time, I miss him even more now. R.I.P. buddy…
